A Martial Artist's Role in the Legal System |

A student of the martial arts has two roles in life. First, he is a martial artist in the outside world. This is a world filled with individuals, most of which have no martial arts training. Secondly, when performing his art, he is a student in a martial arts dojo. The law governs both of these areas. In this paper I plan to examine what laws apply depending upon which setting the martial artist finds himself. The first topic to be examined is what laws apply in the dojo during martial arts instruction. |

June 8th,2008; Two members of GKK Canada competed at this prestigious Canadian event. Branden Brebric competed in the 10-11 year old boys intermediate kata and finished 6th out of 25 competitors. John Barnes won gold in Masters Division kata. |

Bedford GKK Spring Promotional |

Temperance, Mi. -- On June 7, the Bedford GKK held its spring promotional. The grading began at 9:00 AM and ended at 1:15 PM as forty-three students went up for promotion. Mark Cramer, Mary Meade, Chris Perry, Brad Geiner, and Daniel Trumbull officiated with the assistance of four junior black belts -- Stephen Dick, Becky Herroon, Molly Herroon, and Andrew Trumbull. |

Avoiding the Dangers of Olympic Karate |

The International Olympic Committee now recognizes karatedo as an Olympic Sport. In the United States, the USA National Karate-do Federation has recently moved into the Olympic Complex in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Corporate America is now sponsoring the USA Karatedo Team, and sport karate is moving ever closer to being in the Olympic Games. |

This should assist us in growing interest and participation in the Kobudo Kai Weapons division of the GKK.
